AWAKE, now is the time to evaluate our spiritual relationship and prepare for our coming Bridegroom.
Matthew 25:1 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise….10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. 11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.
The 10 virgins of Jesus’s parable were all Christian believers contrary to what some may believe. The scriptural Greek word used for virgins is parthenios, used figuratively as indicative of faithful in Christ or followers (Christians). But 5 were unprepared and came late to find the door closed and Jesus said to them, Truly I tell you I don’t know you.
Jesus was speaking about the relationship the 5 late virgins had with him. They believed in Jesus in their minds but their hearts were not fully committed to Jesus. In 1 John 2:15 we find; If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
Jesus refers to his faithful believers, of Heart and Mind, as his Bride. When we truly love our marital partner, we adhere to their will, we communicate with them daily, we meet daily challenges together, and we thank our spouse throughout the day for the little things they do for us. Our spouse is never far from our mind, and we live our life for them. These are all representative of a healthy and heartfelt marital relationship. This is Jesus’s expectation of his worthy bride and the relationship he seeks.
AWAKE, now is the time to evaluate our spiritual relationship and prepare for our coming Bridegroom.
